Shapes

Later: Looking through my sketches today, Saturday, 1 March, 2008, and I notice I am attracted to the square as a format. Slowly from about here on in the Thousand Sketches there are more and more square formats. That was unconscious but now it is there as something I trust in my work. Solid, symmetrical, yes, trustworthy.

Oils. Sketching. Abstract. More than ever thinking how would this look large & in real media. Expect more of this experimentation.

I wanted to paint something else entirely, a person I think. But I like what happened. It is this messing with oils that I am enjoying. And there are a few more messing around ones coming up.

These are in the wrong order. I did this one before the last one. One thing does lead to another, I like that. On this occasion I like this one better than the second.

Lead pencil plus oil? Seems ok here but might seem wrong in real media?
