Liberty

Liberty

I got close enough on the Staten Island ferry to have a sense that I saw the statue, and this is from a photo I took. There will be a few more goes at this. I got some other good material to work from while I was in New York.

Roof

Roof

This is from the roof of the building that houses the Allen Gallery. Typical New York water tower. Several versions of the sketch follow.

Allen Gallery, Chelsea, New York.

While in New York I made an arrangement to have some of the Thousand Sketches prints for exclusive sale in a Chelsea, Manhattan Gallery!

It began when I stumbled into the gallery not far from where I was staying and saw some prints and originals by Zoe Mac on show. I liked them and I was impressed by the printing process she used, not unlike mine! It turned out it was her opening the next night and I was invited. From there it led to Michel Allen selecting 14 prints that she will handle from New York!

This is a good development for me & this project. It is the first of what I hope will be several galleries that choose to be the exclusive outlet for some of the prints.

I am pleased to make this announcement, I would have done it earlier but I wanted to have the link to the prints in place first.

Empire State

Empire State

Not the last go I will have at the Empire State or the New York skyline. This little portal to the icon was just across the road from where I stayed.

Interesting name now I think of it. Empire State – were they neo-cons back then who wanted to dominate the world?

New York Diner

New York Diner

I think Edward Hopper had defined American diners. I certainly though of his one while I ate here late one night. I think it was called the Empire Café.
