I like this poem. It manages to make good sense of the Christmas story, from his website.

I see a twinkle in your eye, so this shall be my Christmas star and I will travel to your heart: the manager where the real things are.

And I will find a mother there who holds you gently to her breast, a father to protect your peace, and by these things you shall be blessed.

And you will always be reborn and I will always see the star and make the journey to your heart: the manager where the real things are.

I like his cartoons & look at his art:

Process

I am, after four months, still captured by this whirl of art enthusiasm. I have been watching videos on art & reading books. I look at galleries online and offline. I look at art blogs & websites. I am immersed and enjoying the process. I am catching up on a lifetime of not doing this. I was searching for a word, suppressing, avoiding doing this art thing? Not really. I think it was incubating, biding its time.

A long post reflecting on process follows.

Jug – in digital pastel

I look at my recent still lives & feel a need for perfecting them & also loosening them up, and also that this is not quite the direction I want to go in. To do a still life first there is an “arrangement” to do lighting comes into that, and the lighting needs attention. I think I prefer to find things. One thing I like about this one is the attention to the backdrop, in the Teapot it was just digital paper, this time I’ve played around with pastels.

I guess I am influenced in these by Duane Keiser – as are many people in the Daily Painting group it would seem. I love his work & his flair – and he has boosted the ethos of Internet distribution. I respect that. I think he has his character in his images yet they are also very realistic. Compositions are good too. I will post one of his images here:

Soul

Inspiration: linking to Daily Art, by Martha Collins.

Daily Art is a blog in my blogroll. There is a bit of art history everyday, todays is a Vuillard

I discover that it is part of something called Intimisme.

It ties in with how I was first introduction to Vuillard, he is the painter of the “Woman at a window sewing” on the cover of Thomas Moore’s book “Care of the Soul.”

I used that image years ago in a webpage describing Depth Psychology

I am attracted to his work, the soulfulness comes through to me in the style as much as the content. If the soul has colours & shapes – he seems to know how to make them.

Marthas blog is worth subscribing to, thanks Martha.
