Immersed in a pond

Inspiration – the following work is by Kevin Macpherson

image

Kevin Macpherson did 368 paintings of the same pond over five years.

The concept of this series was conceived by Macpherson as an artistic journey that would be demanding both physically and psychologically, but would ultimately give him deep insight and fresh appreciation for the natural world. Throughout the creation of these paintings he maintained several constants: each painting was executed on a 6×8 inch panel, his palette remained consistent, each painting contains realistic, identifiable elements of the scene, and the artist painted from the same location. The variations in the paintings are generally the result of the weather, season, or time of day the paintings was made. However, the events and the general course of the artist’s life over the five years are also present in the paintings.

I like mention of the psychological aspect of this.  I wonder what insights he got & how his own life came through.

  1. I am amazed as well. The medium is ripe for more exploration – having a tablet & a pen is an invitation to draw.

Where will it lead? I see you use pastels – I can “click’ on pastes and like the richness of them, (See the candle # 161) when my 1000 are done I hope to give some old media a go. Pastels maybe.

  2. One quick note here – this particular image is not mine – post other peoples here for inspiration as well. So this one is an oil! Kevin Macpherson
